L’une des notions à partir desquelles j’ai travaillé, c’est que les parcs de Disney perfectionnent l’art de l’illusion. Mes photographies agissent de façon exponentielle pour ajouter une couche au simulacre de réalité augmentée. Que j’aie été à Paris, à Tokyo, en Floride ou à Los Angeles, les parcs ne contenaient pas d’indices culturels.

En 1995, tandis que nous élaborions l’exposition L’architecture du réconfort, nous avons demandé à Catherine Wagner de photographier les quatre parcs thématiques de Disney (à Anaheim, en Californie; à Orlando, en Floride; à Tokyo; et à Paris). Les photos produites alors ont aussi fait partie de l’exposition Réalisme et illusion.
